Street circus festivals

Street circus sits between two worlds. Some of these festivals are circle-show circuits where a juggler works a square on the hat; others are contemporary circus festivals with production budgets, technical riders and a curated programme booked eighteen months out. The application route tells you which one you are looking at: an online form usually means a call open to solo acts, while a curated programme means the way in is a professional market or a programmer who has already seen you.

The markets are the hinge of this circuit. FiraTàrrega, Trapezi and Mirabilia are where European programmers buy their seasons, and being seen at one of them opens doors that no cold application will. If your work is scaled for the street rather than the tent, the small municipal festivals are the realistic entry point and the markets are the goal.
