Synopsis
Partenope is a woman named after her city.
In the Greek myth, Parthenope is the siren who committed suicide after failing to enchant Ulysses
Her body was brought by the tide to the place where the Castel dell’Ovo is now built, and for this she gave the name to the city that would later become Neapolis, Naples.
In the film, Parthenope is the incarnation of the city of Naples

Too many familiar scenes, too many obsessions already represented, too many mannerisms repeated endlessly
The main problem with Parthenope is that it doesn’t bring anything new to Paolo Sorrentino’s filmography.
I love Sorrentino’s cinema, but the excitement I felt when I left the theater after seeing The Consequences of Love is now just a vague memory, vanished like the summer youth of yesteryear
While it is true that the cigarette has become the director’s signature, when all the actors, from the beautiful lead actress to the extras in the background, light one up, it quickly becomes sickening, if not downright ridiculous.
